School

the front of the Highland Park Elementary building

Highland Park Elementary opened its doors for the first time in 1998.

Highland Park is located on the east side of Lee’s Summit off of Millstone and Langsford. HPE has an average enrollment of approximately 500 students and 79 employees including classified and certified staff. HPE has three or four sections of each grade, depending on the number of students in each grade.

Highland Park serves the immediate community in which it is located, but is also home to two special district programs. At HPE we house one of the district’s English as a Second Language (ESL) programs and one of the Mentally Handicapped (LifeSkills) programs. Both of these programs enrich our school culture with the addition of diverse needs and backgrounds.

In 2013- 2014 Highland Park became a Franklin Covey Leader in Me School. Students are taught the 7 Habits and shown how to incorporate them into all areas of their life. It is so exciting to be able to offer this opportunity to our students and school community as we believe it will only serve to elevate their success as they grow up and move on from our school.
