Four Highland Park students earn Pathway to Biliteracy Award

The Lee’s Summit R-7 School District recognized 118 students in grades 1, 3, 5 and 8 who completed the requirements in English and another language for the Seal of Biliteracy Pathway Award. 

The Pathway Awards recognize elementary and middle school students who have sought out second language acquisition opportunities in their communities or who have worked to maintain the native language spoken in the home. These students were required to demonstrate this second language acquisition or learning to meet district and state standards.

The following HPE students earned their Pathway to Biliteracy award:

French:  Melina Durham* (3rd grade)

Korean:  Asher Cha* (1st grade)

Russian:  Evan Antonets* (3rd grade)

Spanish:  Dylan Hung (5th grade)

*indicates student is receiving award for the second time
